I Almost Died

Healthy living is one of my passions, ever since I almost died 45 years ago, at the age of 39 from peritonitis. A huge internal abscess had formed following a surgery two years earlier and the peritonitis followed another surgery to remove it.

My doctor could not find an antibiotic that was strong enough to cure the staph infection that went throughout my body.   So every night my fever spiked so high that they didn’t think I would survive.

Finally, after a two week hospital stay, my doctor allowed me to go home  on condition that I would return every day for him to check the  tube that was still in place for drainage from my abdomen.

I was so weak that I could hardly walk, so I began reading a book on nutrition that a fellow nurse had given me  just before I went into the hospital.   She had commented, “I don’t know if this would interest you but I thought it was pretty good.”

In addition to that, the last thing my doctor told me when I left the hospital was that if I had any vitamins at home it would be a good idea to take them.

I decided that the doctor’s remark along with the book my friend gave me was no coincidence and that it was time for me to become interested in nutrition if I wanted to regain my health.

I became  fascinated with the  role of food in building physical, mental and spiritual health.

I am very grateful to still be very active at 83 years of age and  enjoy walking, swimming, teaching a weekly Bible class and sharing the discoveries I’ve found to help others have the blessing of abundant health.

I believe if you are concerned about your health you must  be active in achieving it.  Your health is too precious to ignore.

I also believe that God created us to serve Him and gives us the responsibility to care for the bodies He has given us.

I hope this site will help you in your search for abundant health.
